Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

Once you receive an ITA through Express Entry, you have exactly 60 days to submit a complete electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) along with all required supporting documents.

Yes, all PR applicants and their accompanying family members must pass an Immigration Medical Exam (IME). This exam must be conducted by an IRCC-approved panel physician.

You must provide a valid police certificate from every country you (and your adult family members) have lived in for 6 months or more in a row since the age of 18. This is a strict requirement for background checks.

You must declare all dependents (spouse and children) in your initial application, even if they are not accompanying you to Canada immediately. Failing to declare a family member can ban you from ever sponsoring them in the future.

Processing times vary significantly by program. For Express Entry, IRCC aims to process most complete applications within 6 months, while PNP or paper-based applications can take much longer.
